Version 6.5 of Avalon Offshore adds the ability to display all of your NMEA/AIS data on augmented reality glasses.
Already used in certain sports such as cycling and running, Avalon Offshore now offers this advanced technology to sailors and boaters.
Skippers and crews will thus have all the essential information on the boat’s operation in their sunglasses.
Fully configurable, these glasses are connected to Avalon Offshore (iOS or Android) on your tablet or phone via Bluetooth®.
You will be able to consult key information such as wind force (TWS), wind angle (TWA), speed and heading, depth, current, etc. up to around 20 pieces of information from your NMEA network.
You will also be warned directly in the glasses in the event of a risk of collision detected by your AIS system.
Racers will also be able to optimize their regatta directly in the glasses: distance and time to burn before departure, distance and time until the next tack or jibe, deviation from the ideal trajectory.
These glasses cost around 300 euros (Engo 2 model) but will surely allow you to make serious savings on equipment by avoiding:
- to install mast foot screens (from 1000 to 2000 euros per screen)
- to buy a sea proofed tablet with strong luminosity because it will remain on the chart table, except during approaches.
The glasses are not sold directly by Avalon but you can order them from Engo Eyewear. See link below.
